We'll start with MUGS Quiz #1: It's/Its on NoRedInk.
From there, we will do an activity with Of Mice & Men to help us start seeing the symbolism and themes in the book.
We will revisit the first chapter of the book and use a literacy strategy called coding.
As we read through the chapter again, using the photocopied pages and your design kit tools, use the following codes to mark your thinking. We will try an experiment with working in groups and on a bigger to do this.

AP Lit 2B/3B: Trifles
Mr. Ryder is off saving the world from itself this morning -- he'll be back for period 3, he hopes.
“Trifles”
a. Record a class reading as a radio drama. Use inflection and interpretation of the stage directions to make a plausible product. It is okay to cast females in the male parts to make this work.
b. While most of the class participates in the radio drama, one or two students should storyboard the play. You can see an example from yesterday’s class up on the markerboard. Create your storyboards on paper so they can be easily captured and sent to me.
c. After the dramatic reading, start a separate recording. Discuss Glaspell’s use of symbolism in the play. Consider the following:

d. After this discussion, if there’s time feel free to share a project or two.Make sure you share the recordings with me.

AP Lit 3G: Trifles
Today we will begin with "Trifles" and close with a couple of voluntary project shares.
In a first for this class, we will stage a dramatic reading of Susan Glaspill's "Trifles." As we move through the dialogue, we will storyboard the action as well. (My hope and dream is that one of our artistically inclined folk will take marker in hand and illustrate for us as we go.) The intent here is to see the importance of blocking, while also aligning movement to dialogue and such. (I'm less than articulate at the moment. I know what I mean. I think.)
And we very well may need to stand up and act to make it all work.
We'll end class with a couple of project shares. We'll keep sharing as we go through the next several classes. Sharing is completely voluntary.

PACE: Music & Poetry Solving Problems as We Solve Our Own
We'll start Tuesday with a look at this. (If you are looking at this on an iPad, you'll likely see nothing but a jigsaw puzzle piece or some such indicator that there's no Flash available to you.)
We'll briefly explore these words, who wrote them, what they mean, and what it means for your work this week. I'm being a little shifty and mysterious because of the lesson itself, but basically we are going to practice in class the work you will be doing on your blogs this week.
After this activity, we have some very important work to complete. We have to walk out the door with our essential questions established for this unit, a clear sense of project choices that should allow you to answer those questions, and some lists of the steps and stages we'll need to go through in order to accomplish the goal.

Humanities: No Red Ink, Projects, Of Mice & Men & Socratic Seminar
Today in class we started by splitting in two groups. Those groups got underway with another round of No Red Ink and it's/its. We'll be taking a quiz on this next Friday, November 15. You may want to practice on your own.
From there, Mr. Ryder discussed the Story Corps project and what that will involve. Mr. Dunbar talked about the photo essay project and what that will involve. We also talked about the building a studio project. (This will probably be a major design challenge anchor project.)
We came together and Mr. Ryder read nearly all of the next section of Of Mice and Men, beginning on page 66 and ending . . . after that.
Folks had twenty minutes to work on:
